Annual meeting report

Cracow, 10th of April 2024

1. Opening of the meeting

President of the PFA Polish Section Prof. Marek Ziętek opened with his welcome speech. The report from the annual meeting of the PFA Polish Section of 29th March 2023 was accepted unanimously in open voting.

Next the President commemorated the PFA Polish Section members who passed away in 2023:

  • Prof. Janina Stopa
  • Prof. Jan Trykowski
  • Prof. Włodzimierz Więckiewicz
  • Prof. Jerzy Sokołowski
  • Dr. Jerzy Pytko

Prof. Marek Ziętek informed about resignation of the Dr. Wiesław Latała from the function of a treasurer of the PFA Polish Section. Dr. Sadri Rayad was appointed for treasurer. The head office of the Main Board was moved form Warsaw to Wroclaw. The bank account number remains unchanged.

2. Diploma awarding ceremony to new members of PFA Polish Section

The President prof. Marek Ziętek and Vice-president prof. assistant Wojciech Bednarz handed the certificates and medallions to all of three new PFA Polish Section members:

  • Prof. Elżbieta Pels
  • Prof. Tamara Pawlaczyk-Kamieńska
  • Dr. Sadri Rayad

This moment symbolized the recongnition and celebration of their achievements, commitement, and contributions to the dental community.

3. The 2023 Prof. Zbigniew Jańczuk prize ceremony of PFA Polish Section

The President of the PFA Polish Section prof. Marek Ziętek and Vice-president prof. assistant Wojciech Bednarz conducted the 2023 Prof. Zbigniew Jańczuk prize awarding ceremony. The prize was given to Professor Maria Borysewicz-Lewicka. This annual award is given in recognition of contribution for Polish dentistry.

4. Admission of new members to the PFA Polish Section

  • prof. Grażyna Wiśniewska and prof. Stanisław Majewski proposed prof. Mariusz Szuta from Cracow,
  • prof. Tomasz Konopka and prof. Małgorzata Radwan-Oczko proposed prof. Mariusz Lipski from Szczecin
  • prof. Marek Ziętek and prof. Tomasz Konopka proposed prof. assistant Katarzyna Skośkiewicz-Malinowska from Wroclaw.

The Returning Committee: prof. assistant Wojciech Bednarz and prof.Tamara Pawlaczyk-Kamieńska conducted the secret vote procedure. All of the proposed members received 29 positive votes from the 29 voting members of the PFA Polish Section.

5. Dr. Tomasz Marii Kercz’s lecture: “Photography in dentistry. Method, caprise or tangible benefit for the dentist and the patient?”

Dr. Tomasz Maria Kercz gave the lecture about avantages of various photography methodes used in dentistry. During the discussion prof. Elżbieta Mierzwińska-Nastalska mandioned the need to incorporate the principles of photography into the student training programmes in Polish dental universities.

6. Any other business

Dr. Zbigniew Klimek said that it is necessary to commemorate the merits and cherish the memory of the distinguished members of the polish dental sciences and local governments. He mentioned the centenary anniversary of Prof. Zbigniew Jańczuk birth this year. Prof. Marek Ziętek reminded that PFA Polish Section awards the annual Prof. Jańczuk’s prize, which was awarded this year to prof. Maria Borysewicz-Lewicka, who thanked for the award and expressed that she highly appreciates it.
The members subsequently considered giving recommendations to co-operating companies. Prof. Marek Ziętek informed that further decisions will be taken by the Main Board of PFA Polish Section.

7. Closing of the meeting

Finally, prof. Marek Ziętek thanked all the members and invited them for the evening get-toghether. The meeting was closed.
