SC PFA Welcomes The Newest Members of the PFA Family into Fellowship

Saturday, November 2, 2024 the South Carolina Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy held its Annual Meeting and Fellowship Induction Ceremony at the Palmetto Club located in the heart of downtown Columbia, South Carolina. Many local PFA Fellows attended the event and welcomed the new Fellows into the PFA Family of Professionals.

A three-hour CE program was held as part of the ceremony with Dr. Casey Bennett serving as the keynote speaker providing insight and expertise regarding digital dentistry and digital workflows.
He was followed by a fan favorite Mr. Brooks Harper who provided the leadership lecture aspect of our planned program. Mr. Harper simultaneously informed and entertained with illustrative leadership vignettes drawn from a lifetime of experience in mentoring and developing leaders.
The lectures were followed by lunch at the Palmetto Club and the induction of our 2024 Fellows. The program was moderated by Dr. Theresa Gonzales who provided commentary on the history and mission of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Notably, in attendance was Mr. Bob Cattoi, the international Executive Director of the Pierre Fauchard Academy who had traveled from Rockville, Maryland to participate in this ceremony.

Dr. Michael Schmidt was inducted as South Carolina’s first and only Honorary Fellow in the Pierre Fauchard Academy joining an august group of fewer than 50 Honorary Fellows worldwide.
The Induction Ceremony was followed by the presentation of two individual awards. Dr. David F. Watson, Junior, was unanimously selected by the South Carolina PFA Section leadership as the 2024 Outstanding Leader. The final national award went to Dr. Sarah Godbold- Machowski for her distinguished service as Section Chair of the South Carolina PFA.
The award ceremony was immediately followed by the installation of the 2024/2025 officer slate with Dr. Monica Cayouette being installed as the Chair of the South Carolina PFA Section and with Dr. Mary Machowski assuming the role of Treasurer of the South Carolina PFA Section. Dr. Daniel Hall continues in his current role as the Vice President of the South Carolina PFA Section. The SCPFA leadership team would like to officially recognize and thank Ms. Kate Peralta for her invaluable assistance in coordinating and orchestrating this event.
