Utah Section Annual Breakfast and Induction meeting
On February 1st, 2024, the Utah Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy met for its annual breakfast and induction meeting. As is traditional, this meeting coincides with the Utah Dental Association’s Annual Convention. As such, we were honored to have several special guests join with our fellows.
Of particular were ADA Executive Director, Ray Cohlmia, ADA President Elect, Bret Kessler, ADA 14th District Trustee, Jeff Kahl, and ADA Chief Economist and Vice President of the Health Policy Institute (HPI) Marco Vujicic. We were also pleased to acknowledge Dr. Hume, Dean of the University of Utah Dental School, and many present and past officers of the UDA.
Dr. Gerald Boseman gave a report to our members concerning our Utah Dental Convention, and Dr. Cohlmia updated us on the many exciting changes coming to the ADA. Dr. Gary Lowder, a past president of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and past President of the Oral Health Foundation of the Pierre Fauchard Academy acknowledged this year’s student recipients of PFA scholarships and senior awards. We were pleased that 3 of the 4 students, along with their significant others were able to join us that morning.
Our final activity that morning was the induction of our new fellows: Drs Marilyn Sadler, David Howard, Anthony Mecham, David Defay and Dayne Jensen. Dr. Kelley O’Brien led them in the pledge.
Fellows were involved in various activities throughout the year which included many humanitarian projects and events. Our fellows are also very busy with their leadership activities in the UDA, the Utah Dental Board of Licensing and dental school faculty assignments.
