Dr. Obrock is a graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He retired from private practice in 2022. He is a member of the American Dental Association and has received the Mastership Award and Lifetime Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) from the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition to fellowship in the PFA, he is also a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. In October 2022 Dr. Obrock was elected PFA Trustee for Region 3 serving the Southeast U.S. states and Caribbean, having previously served as Illinois Section Chair for 4 years. Dr. Obrock currently serves on the board of the Central/Southern Illinois AGD. He previously served on the board of the Illinois AGD and as president of the CIAGD and T.L. Gilmer Dental Society. He is the founder of Give Kids a Smile- Quincy, a multi-county GKAS that has provided free dental care to over 2100 needy children and provided nearly $1 million in community value. GKAS-Quincy completed their 14th annual event in 2020. He and Ellen have two grown sons and their spouses. They have four grandsons and a granddaughter, though all located- too far away- in Indiana and Texas. Hobbies include kayak fishing, travel, tennis, swimming and genealogy.
