Dr. Tom Ochola graduated from the University of Nairobi in 1984 with a BDS. In 1989, he received a scholarship from the British Council to study Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology at Kings College, University of London from where he graduated with an Msc in 1990. As the first and only Dental and Maxillofacial Radiologist in Sub Saharan Africa, Dr Ochola continued to promote the sub speciality through research and publications while working as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at his Alma mater where he has served continuously for the last 35 years. He holds a Diplomate from the Royal College of Radiologists (UK) and a Diplomate in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology from the College of Medicine of South Africa. Dr Ochola was elected as the President of the Kenya Dental Association for two consecutive terms between 2003 and 2007. He has also served as a Board member of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board between 2009 and 2019. He is currently the Chairman of the Dental Chapter of the University of Nairobi Alumni Association and a board member of various educational and charitable institutions in Kenya. Dr Ochola was inducted as Section Chair of PFA Kenya Section in 2017 and was elected as Trustee for Region 11 in 2021. Dr Ochola is married with two daughters.
