Welcome to the home pages for Region VIII of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Our Region comprises Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea and we have 516 Fellows, the vast majority Australian, at the time of writing. According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, there are 18,383 registered dentists in Australia which means that our Fellows represent around 3% of Australian dentists.

Our Fellows have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to our profession and include both General Dentists and Specialist Dentists, working in a range of different professional roles. Our primary focus for recognition is leadership in these professional roles and other community roles.

We hold National Induction Ceremonies and our Emerging Young Lecturer competition every two years in conjunction with ADA Congress, and on alternate years we hold State based ceremonies. With the support of the PFA Foundation, we provide Scholarships to outstanding student leaders in the Dental Schools in our Region. Grants from the Foundation support philanthropy and any Fellows interested in applying for funding should ideally discuss this with their Section Head.

In 2024, we hope to provide additional leadership resources for Fellows wishing to take their current skills and abilities into other areas of leadership. In the meantime, we strongly encourage all our Fellows to nominate a colleague for Fellowship. We simply need a CV that stresses both professional and community roles and a completed nomination form .
